The pandemic has upended lives across the worldand completely changed the way we think. It’s been a hard year for many as they’ve lost jobs, lost loved ones, beenseperated, and have been unable to cross international borders.
We’re hoping everything can go back to normal and we can get back to our regular scheduled programming sometime in 2021.

The Pandemic
Sherpa’s survived 2020 as a company with the help of each and every single one of you who placed an order. We want to express our sincere gratitude to all of you.
Looking back at the darkest moments of 2020, we sat down with one of our couriers. This was his 2020.
Mr. Zhu， 41 years old. This is his 10th year working at Sherpa’s.
“I have never encountered a situation like this year before. It is false to say that I am not afraid.”
At the worst of the epidemic, he, like every food delivery man who shuttled through the streets, nervously delivered warm food quickly and safely to people’s homes. Every trip carried with it a feeling of lingering, unknown fear.
“Especially in January and February, when the number of confirmed diagnoses was soaring, everyone was afraid to go out, but the nature of our work required us to bite the bullet and stay outdoors.”
Mr. Zhu has two children. Even though he was worried about his own safety, he dared not stop working. His family needed to eat.
Shanghai is a welcoming city, full of opportunities and brilliance. But beauty and cruelty are often intertwined. There are tens of thousands of workers who are far away in a distant land like him, who have their families to care for. They are all brave.
“Everyone has their own social role to play.”
Sanitation workers who have to clean the fallen leaves even if there is no one out on the road; medical workers who face the virus and have been fighting on the frontline of the epidemic for months; factory workers who produce masks and anti-epidemic materials on the assembly line 24 hours a day; chefs who make sure every dish is safe; couriers who ensure meals arrive in the hands of customers on time.
At the beginning of the outbreak, Sherpa’s equipped the delivery staff, including Master Zhu, with an ample supply of masks and hand sanitizers and conducted relevant preventive training. The food delivery boxes were disinfected morning, noon, and night, and the couriers’ body temperatures were measured every day to ensure the health and safety all the staff and customers.
We’d like to say thank you to all of our couriers for their hard work and dedication. They were a burst of shimmering light in a dark year.

This year ,Sherpa’s teamed up with the incredible Heart to Heart ,our awesome partner restaurants, and the Rotaract Club of Shanghai to raise money for heart surgeries for children across China with congenital heart disease who can’t afford treatment.
With the help of our customers, Geng Tianyi, a little boy from Guizhou province who just had his 2nd birthday, was able to have the heart surgery he needed to live his best life.
His recovery is progressing very well. His family is beyond excited that he can grow strong, play with the other children, and start school soon!
After all that hard work planning and preparing for an epic party, our highly anticipated Xmas market was delayed at the very last minute. You guessed why – thanks, Covid!
No worries though, we’ll host a bigger and better event in a brand new format next year. Get ready for even more shopping, eating, drinking, music, and fun! By then we should be able to really let loose and enjoy this event without any corona concerns at all.
We also moved beyond delivery this year. In addition to zipping around town and delivering delicious dishes from your favourite restaurants, we teamed up with top eateries to provide you with deep discounts on special sets, afternoon tea, fancy feasts, and more.
