We’ve gathered together a few cool travel ideas within China for the late planners for this year or the super early planners for next year! We’re still not sure if international travel will be on the books for 2022, so it might be wise to think domestically.
Shanhaiguan – Hebei
河北山海关
How far east does the Great Wall go? Well, until it meets the Bohai sea! Seriously, how cool does the intersection of solid wall and sea look? The Great Wall lumbers on until it simply runs out of land.

Leshan Giant Buddha – Sichuan

The Leshan Giant Buddha is a 71-metre tall stone statue, built between 713 and 803 during the Tang dynasty. The stone sculpture faces Mount Emei with the rivers flowing below its feet. It is the largest and tallest stone Buddha statue in the world! Check out this awesome sight and then enjoy some lush hiking followed by plenty of spicy Sichuan treats.

Xilamuren Grasslands – Inner Mongolia
内蒙希拉穆仁草原
Beautiful grasslands, plenty of horses, and the chance to escape the big cities! These grasslands are a breath of fresh air. You can enjoy a blazing campfire with a cold beer (or three) and then stumble off to sleep in your very own yurt. Nice.

Fanjingshan Temple – Guizhou
贵州梵净山寺
Located 2,336 meters above the sea, Fanjingshan Temple (actually two distinct temples – Temple of the Buddha (释迦殿) & Maitreya Temple) is stunningly beautiful. We hope you’re not afraid of heights! The green mountain scenery is often shrouded in mist and clouds – making for a heavenly view.
