Surprisingly enough, this wasn’t the first time an elephant made an appearance in her house, as the wall already had a hole in it from when an elephant smashed into her houe the month before.
“I have seen elephants roaming around our town looking for food since I was young,” said Ratchadawan. “But this is the first time the actually damaged my house.”
Videos show the elephant searching through cupboards and drawers with it’s nifty trunk looking for food.
But the elephant’s visit to a local residence is much more sinister than it may appear. Elephant-human conflict has been on the rise across Asia as human settlements expand, the wildlife habitats shrink, leaving the elephants with less resources and forcing them to roam in search of food.
We hope this elephant managed to get some food in the end, and that Ratchadawan won’t have to address the elephant in the room again.
