It Was the ‘Purr-fect’ Pâté for This Elderly Couple

Margaret and Donald Lincoln from Sheffield, England, moved to France back in 2015 and admit that reading the French labels can be somewhat of a challenge, but up until now they managed to get by without any problems.

During the pandemic daughter Angela Holloway did their weekly shop at the local supermarket, but was left slightly confused when her mother asked her to buy more of the ‘gorgeous pâté’.

Unsure of the ‘pâté’ her mother was referring to, Angela asked her to send a picture of the tin, and was shocked (and in hysterics) that the picture of the cat on the label wasn’t enough to make her parents realise it was food for their pet cat, Aggy.

Angela said: “Honestly I nearly wet myself. I was absolutely howling with laughter.”

“My mum started laughing then my sister started laughing. My sides were splitting, my mouth was hurting, I was laughing that much.

“I couldn’t stop laughing, honestly – I was going to wet myself – for a good ten minutes.”

Thankfully, the portions consumed of the tuna-based feline food were not enough to make the couple ill and they all saw the funny side! We think it’s fair to assume they won’t be eating pâté again for a while!

Always read the label carefully, or just use the Sherpa’s app to buy your groceries to avoid similar mishaps!
