WHO Declares Global Health Emergency 世卫组织宣布国际关注的突发公共卫生事件

The deadly coronavirus that has already taken 170 lives in China has been declared a global emergency by the World Health Organization. There has been cases in 18 countries outside of China with a concern that it could spread to countries with weaker health systems.

已夺走至少170人生命的新型冠状病毒已被世卫组织宣布构成国际关注的突发公共卫生事件。除中国外已有18个国家确诊,十分担心会传播到更广的区域。

Although most cases have been found in people who have travelled from Wuhan, where the outbreak began there has also been cases of human-to-human infection in Germany, Japan, Vietnam and the United States.

The WHO declares a Public Health Emergency of International Concern when there is “an extraordinary event which is determined … to constitute a public health risk to other states through the international spread of disease”.
