The earliest roots of modern Mexican cuisine lie in ancient Mesoamerican culinary history. The ingredients and cooking methods began with the first agricultural communities in the region, like the Maya – who domesticated corn! Other native civilizations helped instill the foundations for distinct regional cuisine types including Baja Med, Oaxacan, Chipas, and more.

Modern Mexican cuisine uses many food staples that are native to the land, like beans, avocadoes, tomatoes, vanilla, agave, sweet potatoes, cactus, and chili peppers! The cuisine is an incredibly important part of the culture, social structure and popular traditions of Mexico. 

墨西哥菜深受世界人民喜欢，被誉为世界名菜。各式食物都以辣为主，连松饼都是以辣椒来制，会使用许多如豆类、鳄梨、西红柿、香草、龙舌兰、红薯、仙人掌和辣椒等食材，味道有甜、辣和酸等，加上匠心独运的制法，是墨西哥菜的一大亮点。

Meaning ‘wrestler’ in English, Luchador is an important part of Mexican street culture. El Luchador seeks to unleash a wicked tag team on your taste buds in the form of authentic & delicious Mexican fare. Chef Eduardo Gomez hails from Mexico City and worked at the top restaurant in Mexico’s Capital: Pujol. First opened in Shanghai in 2013, they’re now serving up the good stuff here in town.

The husband and wife team, Nicolas and Zoe opened up their first Mexican restaurant in town in 2006, so Zoe could share her passion for cooking. With their popularity and second location, Zoe is no longer the sole chef, but her team consistently serves delicious burritos, enchiladas, and other authentic Mexican dishes. Guests can expect warm western service and hefty portions at both locations.
