The “Shanghai Non-Motor Vehicle Safety Management Regulations” will come into effect on May 1st this year. Electric Vehicle Owners should pay attention to the new rules regarding driving non-motorized vehicles and the penalties for violating them.

The new rules will forbid electric vehicles from being parked and charged in public areas such as halls, public walkways, stairwells, corridors, the first floor of buildings, evacuation passages, safety exits, fire safety passages, and in areas that may potentially block passage.

Those who park or charge illegally shall be fined between ¥1,000 and ¥10,000. If the violations are severe, a fine of between ¥10,000 and ¥50,000 may be imposed
