According to the Joint Prevention and Control Mechanism of the State Council, Shanghai will soon launch an online reservation system for foreign nationals to receive COVID-19 vaccines.

From March 29th, 2021, foreign nationals of the appropriate age will have the option to book appointments to receive a domestically produced COVID-19 vaccine.  Participants can receive this vaccine on the voluntary basis that they are informed and willing to receive the vaccine at their own cost and risk.

Foreign nationals wishing to receive the vaccine can use the ‘Jiankang Yun – Health Cloud’– online app to book a reservation. The available inactivated virus vaccine is a domestically produced two-shot vaccine. Those who are covered by China’s medical insurance are entitled to the same treatment as Chinese nationals. Otherwise the vaccine treatment will cost ¥100 per shot.

Reservation Instructions:

From March 29th, foreign nationals can scan the following QR Code to access the ‘Jiankang Yun’ app service page and fill in their information. After registration is complete, users will receive a SMS confirmation with the time and location of the appointment. Registrants should bring their passport or Chinese permanent resident card and valid registration papers to the vaccine appointment.

Before receiving the vaccine shot, registrants will sign a letter of consent, a disclaimer, and other relevant documents. Registrants should ensure their own personal protection by truthfully disclosing their health conditions to the onsite medical workers for final confirmation if the registrant is suitable for the vaccine or not.

After receiving the vaccine, participants should pay especially close attention to their health in the 14 days after the shot. If any adverse side effects are experienced, participants should immediately seek medical treatment at a hospital.
