* There are no high- risk regions in Shanghai now, but the situation remains fluid.
On March 12th, 2022, the Shanghai Covid-19 Prevention and Control team made an announcement that in order to stop the spread of Covid-19 more effectively, the following regulations will be enacted: all residents in Shanghai should remain in the city unless there is a very urgent matter, and people must receive a negative Covid-19 test result within 48 hours before leaving.
These regulations went into effect on March 12th and will remain in place until further notice.
Regulations for visiting or returning to Shanghai from within China.
On March 12th, the Shanghai Covid-19 Prevention and Control team made an announcement that anyone visiting or returning to Shanghai from other locations within China must receive a negative Covid-19 test result within 48 hours of arrival. This measure will stay in place until further notice.
Anyone visiting or returning to Shanghai from or via domestic high-risk regions must report to the local community, company, or hotel within 12 hours of arrival. These people will be quarantined collectively and tested 4 times: on the 1st, 4th, 7th and 14th days respectively.

The team advises Shanghai citizens not to visit domestic medium-high-risk and high-risk regions or travel abroad, except for very urgent matters. The team also advises them to take full prevention methods including sanitizing hands, monitoring health daily, and more when traveling to low-risk regions, and to monitor health for 7 days including taking temperatures every morning and evening, staying away from crowds, and wearing masks correctly. The above notice took effect at midnight on March 14th, and is subject to further updates.

Q: Is a negative test result required when transferring at the railway stations?
A: The fast transfer at Shanghai Railway Station, Shanghai South Railway Station, and Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station have been suspended. Passengers will get their temperatures taken at the exit and then enter the station again for transferring.
