Hershey’s Chocolate Bars, Almond Joys, Hershey’s Kisses, Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, and York Peppermint Patties are just a few of the sweets manufactured by the 125-year old Hershey Company. You’ve probably sampled at least a few of these tasty treats over the years.

Hershey’s is teaming up with fellow Pennsylvanian company (and oldest operating brewery in America) Yuengling to launch a Chocolate Porter Beer.

Yuengling and Hershey’s were looking to brew up something special to celebrate their respective 190th and 125th anniversaries! This rich, chocolate porter took 9 months to finish and utilized Hershey’s cocoa powder and chocolate nibs during the brewing process. The recipe was based off Yuengling’s 190-year old porter recipe.
Representatives from the companies had this to say about the beer:
“I think it’s a lot lighter than you’re gonna expect. Porters, by nature, are a bit of a heavier beer, but the chocolate really smooths it out and rounds out this beer.”
“What you get is full-bodied, full-flavoured rich chocolate flavours and overtones to it, which pairs very well with savoury foods.”
The beer is going to available on draft only from mid-October until supplies run out. Unfortunately, no bottle launch is planned at this time, so you’re going to have to hop a plane to Pennsylvania or one of the neighboring states to score your taste.

It’s the perfect time for a trip though. Autumn is just getting underway. What better way to enjoy the beautiful fall foliage than with a rich, chocolately beer?
