Haiku Reopening And Spring Party Contest

The Taojiang Rd. branch of Haiku is reopening with a bang! Friday, April 25th will see a massive party involving free flow sake, cocktails, beer, and sushi rolls. We’d be satisfied stopping there, but wait, there’s more! – fluorescent street dancers, acting artists, flair bar tending, a live jazz band, and games to win prizes will also be featured. Tickets are normally 150 rmb pre-sale or 200 rmb at the door, but we have 5 pairs of tickets to giveaway. We’ll pick 5 winners from the comments on this post by Tuesday, April 22nd.

For your chance to win:

Create your own silly sushi’o roll combination from whatever you please.

Ex. Shanghai Roll – Prime fermented Huangpu river pig with hairy crab, and chemicals to increase the bounce

(Don’t worry though, Haiku’s rolls are incredibly tasty.)

  1. Ok, this one is gonna be a stopper and people might wanna call laowai on this recipe… but here it goes:

Italian Sushi (as transformed from the original Japanese style)

Seaweed >> thinly sliced prosciutto ham
    rice >> risotto
filling >> salmon, buffala mozzarella, cherry tomato, basil leaf
soy sauce & wasabi >> balsamic vinegar and garlic tomato sauce

enjoy with a glass of red wine and a J.

    FULL STOP.

  2. The Promiscuous Roll- Rice is dyed red and served in the shape of lips; meat of choice will be hanging out, Miley-Cyrus-style. Edible underwear optional, pregnancy test on the side.

  3. Because Haiku for me is the perfect mix of japan meets america

The ‘Ramen’ it in your mouth roll, which rolls together thinly sliced pork, noodles, a soft-boiled and is served with pork bone sauce

The ‘Burger’ is always better roll, which contains hamburger bits, sticky rice, lettuce instead of seaweed, tomato puree, bacon bits and a drizzle of mustard!

  4. “Shanghai Heart Attack Surprise”

    core: fatty hongshaorou meat
inner layers: glutinous (sweet) chopped lotus root, and a bit of tofu to add moisture and softness (can be chou doufu if you’re really so inclined!)

wrapped with xiaolongbao flour (the outer part of a xiaolongbao) that’s been slightly fried so it can be picked up and not sticky.

  5. The Gangnam Style Roll – Kimchi, yellowtail, cucumber, sriracha topped with salmon,
    avocado, jalapeño & spicy mayo.

    Served with PSY over Rice.

  6. “silence of the lamb” roll

some HONEY with a BALL of rice, with meat of unknown origings, hehehe, it is very LEKKER 😀

  7. The Gangnam Style Roll: Kimchi, yellowtail, cucumber, sriracha topped with salmon,
    avocado, jalapeño and spicy mayo

    Served with PSY over Rice.

  8. Anzac Roll:

To prepare, take a selection of the finest men and women from Australia and New Zealand, brave, glorious, tall and tanned specimens, people who can shear sheep, fed up on quality meat and clean air, know how to swim, etc
In a separate bowl, create two meaningless wars by mixing a bunch of stuffy pompous idiots together and stirring vigorously. Make a real mess of things here, really appear not to have a clue what you are doing, and run away like a pansy a few times. Throw the ANZACs into the mess you have created, followed by a globule of phlegm.
Throw the whole lot in the bin.
Go out and find an Aussie or a Kiwi, buy him a beer and thank him for the sacrifice his forefathers made to save your arses. Then buy him another one.
