Stone Brewing History

Founded in 1996, the ground-breaking California-based Stone Brewing is the 8th largest craft brewer in the United States. Recognized as an award-winning industry leader, Stone has been called the “All-time Top Brewery on Planet Earth” by BeerAdvocate magazine twice. The company operates breweries in Escondido, San Diego and Napa, CA; Richmond, VA; and Berlin, Germany. In July 2018, Stone opened Stone Brewing Tap Room – Shanghai, becoming the first American independent craft brewer to invest in China. The taproom was voted “Best Craft Beer Bar of 2018” by That’s Shanghai just two months after opening. Known for its bold, flavorful and largely hop-centric beers, Stone has earned a reputation for brewing outstanding, unique beers while maintaining an unwavering commitment to sustainability, business ethics, philanthropy and the art of brewing… and pledging to never, ever, sell out to the man.
