We can hardly believe it. Sherpa’s has been serving hungry customers since 1999. We’re turning 18 years old this month! What else opened in 1999? Well, only the Jinmao Tower, Pudong Airport, and Line 2 of the metro! Yup, there was only 1 line in town when we first started out. How things have changed. But what hasn’t changed is our dedication to delivering great eats to hungry customers!

American Mark Secchia originally founded Sherpa’s as an MBA internship project for the China Europe International Business School. Instead of finding an internship position, he started his own company.

The first headquarters was set up in an office borrowed from a cleaning company’s. After the cleaning team would clock out, the Sherpa’s crew would come inside to use the computers. The original courier team rode bicycles with wooden delivery boxes strapped on the back and didn’t have uniforms, only baseball caps. Later on, the first uniforms were made by hand by one of the team’s mothers.

It was tough going at first. Mark would stand outside of expat hubs like Plaza 66 and the Portman with photocopied menus, asking people to try out the delivery service. He almost called it quits a few times and wondered if the stress was all worth it. We’re glad he stuck it through though. Sherpa’s is now partnered with hundreds of partner restaurants and operates all across Shanghai, Beijing, and Suzhou! No matter if you’re looking for an American dinner, Indian curry, or an Italian pizza and pasta feast, our professional courier team can make it happen.

How are we going to celebrate 18 years of foodie fun? By giving away some really big prizes! That’s right. We’re giving you presents for our birthday.

Bibigo: New branches in Puxi

If you’re as hungry for Korean food as we are and you’ve got a particular liking for bibimbap, you’ll be happy to hear that Korean eatery Bibigo is expanding its delivery options in Shanghai. Previously only available to customers living in Pudong, Bibigo’s scrumptious dishes will now be delivered from their downtown branches on Nanjing Xi Lu and Fushan Lu.

So if you’re looking for a place to satisfy your Korean fix and haven’t yet tried Bibigo’s authentic Korean fare, this announcement should be right down your street! (Pun intended).

Now Delivering: La Pasta

So you’ve tried all our Italian restaurant partners, know their menus inside out and want to try something different? You’ll be pleased to hear that we’re now working with “La Pasta”, an authentic Italian eatery specializing in sophisticated Italian fare with a modern twist.

While pasta is clearly their specialty, we particularly like the Chicken Linguine with pinenuts and basil, the restaurant also serves 9-inch pizzas, fresh salads, and seafood-centric dishes such as their Thai-Style Seafood Risotto or Spicy Seafood Black Spaghetti.
What’s more, we’ll be delivering La Pasta’s Italian delicacies from their three separate branches situated in Puxi and Pudong, so you can get your hands on their delicious grub no matter where you live in the city.
