Win Big for Sherpa’s 18th Birthday!

We can hardly believe it. Sherpa’s is turning 18 years old this month! We’ve been serving hungry customers in Shanghai since 1999 and Suzhou from 2007. What did the fair city of Suzhou look like then? Well, mega-renovations to the railway station had just started, ‘The Pants’ were but a dream, and there was no subway system. How things have changed over the years. But what hasn’t changed is our dedication to delivering great eats to hungry customers!

mark secchia

American Mark Secchia originally founded Sherpa’s as an MBA internship project for the China Europe International Business School. Instead of finding an internship position, he started his own company.

The first headquarters was set up in an office borrowed from a cleaning company. After the cleaning team would clock out, the Sherpa’s crew would come inside to use the computers. The original courier team rode bicycles with wooden delivery boxes strapped on the back and didn’t have uniforms, only baseball caps. Later on, the first uniforms were lovingly made by hand by one of the team member’s mothers.

It was tough going at first. Mark would stand outside of expat hubs like Plaza 66 and the Portman with photocopied menus, asking people to try out the delivery service. He almost called it quits a few times and wondered if the stress was all worth it. We’re glad he stuck it through though. Sherpa’s is now partnered with hundreds of partner restaurants and operates all across Shanghai, Beijing, and Suzhou! No matter if you’re looking for an American dinner, Indian curry, or an Italian pizza and pasta feast, our professional courier team can make it happen.

How are we going to celebrate 18 years of foodie fun? By giving away some really big prizes! That’s right. We’re giving you presents for our birthday.

We can hardly believe it. Sherpa’s has been serving hungry customers since 1999. We’re turning 18 years old this month! What else opened in 1999? Well, only the Jinmao Tower, Pudong Airport, and Line 2 of the metro! Yup, there was only 1 line in town when we first started out. How things have changed. But what hasn’t changed is our dedication to delivering great eats to hungry customers!

Now Delivering: Wagas and Baker & Spice @ Changshou Lu

Wagas and their sister restaurant Baker & Spice need no introduction to hungry denizens of Shanghai. Over the years, we’ve come to rely on their high quality baked goods, pasta dishes, sandwiches, salads, juices, and more. What’s not to love? We’ve recently added new branches of both Wagas and Baker & Spice in the Paris Spring Shopping Mall on Changshou Lu opposite Changshou Park. More branches can mean quicker delivery times and lower delivery fees for customers in select areas. Cheers!

Say Goodbye to Miss Dong

As you may have heard by now, Singaporean home-style food eatery Miss Dong has closed its doors for good after two years of loyal service to Shanghai’s Southeast-Asian foodies.

While we’re obviously disappointed to see them leave the local F&B scene, we work with various other Southeast-Asian joints from which you can get your food fix, and we’re confident the owners’ next endeavors will be just as successful.
Looking for a suitable alternative in the area? Just nab some spicy Malaysian grub from Café Sambal or opt for some home-style Asian appetizers at Saigon Mama. Oh and don’t worry about no longer having access to Singaporean delicacies, as Singaporean Kitchen is here to save the day.
Give them all a try and let us know what you think!
